My Beef with Facebook

Reading from Stephen’s blog, I found this post about Rick Schwier writing about dropping his Facebook account because someone sent him a nasty application and, without thinking, forwarded it to the rest of his friends.  In the end, he was very embarrassed and had to do a lot of explaining.

I don’t know whose bright idea it was to start creating applications on Facebook, but all they really do is clutter up everyone’s profile and a good majority of them are worthless.  I have eradicated almost all of the applications on my profile.  They should stick to their original plan of networking and avoid trying to mimic Myspace and the “bells & whistles” on every page.
