Doing My Part to Promote Diversity in Education

Well, currently I am working on a new project with the Future Teacher Corps organization here at Morehead State.  For those people unfamiliar with FTC, we are a group of pre-service teachers who go out into schools to promote the university and education department.  One of the few things that MSU does not provide enough of is diversity and exposure to it.  To help with this issue, our camp this year will focus on diversity and how it enters into the classroom.  We are doing our best to create activities for students to increase their understanding of different cultures and the world around them.   Our theme is going to be the Olympics…which pretty much is the very definition of it.  Our campers will be divided up into five different countries, each one from a different continent.  As they stand right now, those countries are: China, Mexico, Ireland, Kenya, and Brazil.  I’m so excited about this idea! Wish me luck in all of our preparations!
