Math Education With a Purpose

There is an article on the OLDaily about how math education would provide a higher quality of students if  we we were to show them how Mastercard is taking advantage of them.  A lot of people look at credit cards and automatically want the “free” money that comes with them.  However, those people don’t read the fine print and even if they did do not understand what it means.  To provide a better evaluation of student’s math skills, math education should focus on understanding real world problems such as credit card deals.  Maybe with this knowledge, it would help students become something that the credit card companies despise: the educated population.
